The author was away on a 3 week break to Australia. But before departing Bredgar CC Stephen Goodhew had been contacted to confirm the fixture with them. Selection for this game was left with Freddie Lucas & Steve Marshall. Prior to departing for Oz, I was fully aware after a very wet winter that the ground may not be ready for us to play, plus our rugby section had a scheduled league game close by the day before. So, it turned out, despite the valiant efforts of Andy & his team the square wasn't quite ready for us to play on. Steve contacted Bredgar CC several days before the scheduled date to advise them of the bad news, and it was left that if we had any spare dates later in the season that we should contact them first to see as to whether they were free.
